Education Regarding Various Symptoms/Conditions and Wellness Practices
I come from a long line of teachers (I’m the first doctor in the family) and I know that knowledge is power ! You deserve to know everything science, psychology and even philosophy has to say about your symptoms when we discuss them initially and as we continue to address them. Knowing that there are theories and explanations for what you are going through can certainly make symptoms less frightening and mysterious. You also deserve to know what you can do about your symptoms from a wider standpoint than just medication and/or therapy. Everyday, more is being learned about the brain, mental health, psychology, psychiatry and the complicated, but strong link, between the mind and the body. Studies are being done and published all of the time looking at the role of supplements, dietary treatments, new medications and lifestyle changes to address psychological and psychiatric symptoms, often adding useful treatment options for various conditions. I have a very curious nature and I make a point of reading widely and sharing what I read with my patients. My treatment recommendations and the education I provide evolves as patients progress during treatment, as their symptoms change and as I learn more about recent discoveries/studies. I welcome any articles, book, DVD’s, CD’s brought to an appointment for discussion.
